STRIKER Rowan Liburd said that he saw glimpses of ‘high quality’ from his new team-mates which he hopes will help him find the net for Hereford FC.

Despite only joining the club on Thursday the 26-year-old striker was in the starting line-up during their 2-0 victory over Spennymoor Town.

“It was a great experience and good debut,” said Liburd. "I’m happy to get three points which is the main thing and it was a good solid job away from home.

"I was really pleased with my performance and with the result.

“I’m going to have to settle with the players but I’ve already gelled with them quite quickly which is good and they have welcomed me.

“At training and stuff we just get a vibe and keep the positive energy going. I’m more than happy with the three points and they are a good side that we played today so to come away from home and get a clean sheet is pretty impressive.

“Today I saw glimpses of stuff that is of a really high level so all the midfielders and wide players have got a really high quality about them so that’s going to really help me progress and get goals in the net.

“At Guiseley when you are down there and struggling things tend to not go your way so as much as I didn’t get service I probably didn’t help out as much as I could have so it works both ways.

“I just didn’t work out for whatever reason.”

When asked about his thoughts at playing in front of a big Edgar Street crowd next weekend against Stockport County, Liburd added: “I’m just going to take it in my stride to be honest.

“I’m looking forward to playing at home so I’m just going to bring what I brought today and maybe some goals which would be good.

“I’m not nervous or anything and I’m looking forwards to it definitely. I’m looking forwards to the occasion and it will be a great atmosphere especially for my home debut so I can show the fans what I’m about really."

Liburd had arrived back from international duty with Saint Kitts and Nevis alongside Theo Wharton when he was told about the interest by Hereford FC.

“Theo is a top boy to be fair and we got on at Saint Kitts," Liburd added. “There are some group games for another competition starting in September so that’s not for now and there might be a few friendlies in the summer.

“So I’ve just got to keep my fingers crossed and hopefully get another call-up.

"When I came back I had a call off my agent who said there was an opportunity at Hereford.

“I was willing to speak to the people in charge and that was it.”
