LEDBURY and District Swimming Club came away with a haul of medals from the Worcestershire County Championships recently.

On day one at Wolverhampton, Will Kennedy picked up Ledbury’s first medal of the championships taking home bronze in the 1,500 metres Freestyle.

Days two and three were held at Perdiswell Swimming Pool in Worcester.

Ollie Jones started the medal haul by winning silver in his age group for 200m Breaststroke, silver in the 50m Freestyle and Emily Goggins won bronze.

In the 100m Freestyle Finals, the highlight was Jones going under the minute mark. He also became Junior County Champion for the under-15 100m Breaststroke clocking a time of 1:12.95 while Molly took bronze in the 15 years 50m Freestyle final.

Days four and five of the competition were held at back at Wolverhampton and the medals kept coming.

Fin Stephenson smashed his personal best in the 400m Freestyle to claim bronze.

In the 200m Breaststroke, Goggins pushed all the way to record a time of 3:19.84, one of the fastest times in the region so far this year in that age group.

In the 100m Individual Medley, Luke Hopkins demonstrated more of his impressive rise in performance to swim 1:15.37 and take silver.

In the Female 50m Butterfly finals Goggins took bronze after another gutsy swim and Molly demonstrated exactly why every millisecond counts as she won silver 0.01 ahead of third place.

Success continued in the same vein with Jacob Geller winning silver in the gruelling 200m Butterfly 12 years age group and Jones claimed gold in the 14 years with a personal best by three second.

In the 200m Individual Medley, Goggins added another medal taking bronze in the 10 to 11 years age group.

On the final day Goggins struck gold in the 100m Breast Stroke and Jones didn't disappoint by picking up gold in the 100m Butterfly and silver in the 50m Butterfly.

Overall the championships were Ledbury and District Swimming Club's best performance in recent years with more medals, points and personal bests recorded.

Deputy Head Coach Chris Treanor said: "This has been an outstanding set of results. The swimmers have excelled themselves and enjoyed every moment."
