THE story of a true Glamorgan stalwart will be told at Hereford Rowing Club this Thursday.

Stephen Hedges will be talking about the Glamorgan career of his father, Bernard Hedges in the latest event organised by Hereford Cricket Society.

The Welsh cricketer from Pontypridd was a right handed batsman who made his first-class debut in 1950 and playing through to 1967.

He played 422 first-class matches, all of them for Glamorgan.

Hedges scored 17,733 first-class runs at an average of 25.22, with 21 centuries and a highest score of 182.

His best season was 1961, when he scored 2,026 runs at an average of 32.15.

Hedges was the first player to score a List A century for Glamorgan in 1963 against Somerset.

Not only was Hedges an outstanding cricketer but he also played rugby for Pontypridd and Swansea.
