A LATE strike from the boot of Sophie Elcox-Bond helped Hereford FC to a slender victory over city rivals Bartestree Ladies.
The Bulls were in a resurgent mood all afternoon and striker Roxana Dinescu had the goalkeeper beaten mid-way through the first half, but saw her chipped effort fall just wide.
At the other end Bartestree, looking to complete a league double over their rivals, responded and Megan Holman was on denied by a last ditch Elcox-Bond tackle.
Despite wet and windy conditions the Bulls continued to probe for a winning goal with Dinescu leading the attack.
The striker fired an effort over before Ana Varela sent a volleyed effort just wide of the target.
Elcox-Bond rifled home the winner with four minutes left on the clock after striking a fierce shot from the edge of the box.
Rhian James had a chance to double their lead late on, but sent her effort just wide.
Meanwhile, Lads Club Ladies continue to lead the charge for third place after recording a 2-0 victory at Welland Ladies Firsts.
Despite windy conditions first half goals from Erin Cooke and Amy Reynolds saw them take a commanding lead into the break.
A solid defensive display in the second half saw their side run out clear winners.
