MANAGER John Snape hopes to see how much Worcester City’s “Jekyll and Hyde” youth graduates have blossomed when they renew acquaintances with Boldmere St Michaels tomorrow (3pm).

City opened the season with a 3-2 defeat at the Trevor Brown Memorial Ground, a match that saw raw recruits Liam Lockett and Riley Keasey start and play 90 minutes with Josh Willis introduced at half-time.

The trio has been involved to varying degrees throughout a hit-and-miss campaign that has been summed up by Worcester’s past two outings.

And Snape is urging all of his players, particularly those who have stepped up this term, to show how they have benefited from their learning curve.

“It was a Jekyll and Hyde week where we played really well at Quorn and were on top of our game only to then produce a very low-key display against Romulus,” said Snape.

“With that in mind we have been talking about consistency. We had something like 29 shots up at Quorn and then three against Romulus, which only highlights the point.

“There will be changes and we will go through what we plan to do based on what we have available.

“We found out what a strong side Boldmere have at the start of the season, they know this league inside out and no doubt they will want to beat us as everyone else does at home.

“When we look at the season and our progress, what we have or haven’t done, there will be a few lads in there who started in that opening game of the season – Locko, Josh and Riley spring to mind.

“They have developed as the season has gone on and this will be a good measure of how much they have progressed and learned from the games they have played since.”

Snape was already planning changes for the encounter but his hand could be forced by a quartet of fresh problems.

“I might need to make a few changes,” he added.

“There are injury doubts over Sam Hall and Jordan Harrison. Kyonn Evans has gone down with a stomach bug so we will monitor that and Luke English has been suffering with a throat infection.

“They will all be assessed ahead of Saturday.”
