CURRENT and past students at a Hereford college were instrumental as the GB Women’s Team won gold at the International Trikai Goalball Tournament in Lithuania.

In the team were two present, one past and one future student from The Royal National College for the Blind in Hereford

The side were led by GB Goalball Coach and coach at the college Aaron Ford.

The four team tournament saw GB play three group games to decide who could compete for the gold medal.

Despite losing to Ukraine in the group stage the GB side got their revenge in the final beating them 3-2 to take gold.

National College player Cali Holder finished top goalscorer.

"It was an opportunity for the players to show what they have got ahead of the selection for the World Championships in America which take place in June," said Ford.

"The girls did themselves proud and no harm in the selection process. We didn't take our senior players and it gave the junior players a chance to step up and seize the opportunity."

The World Championships in June is one of two chances for the side to qualify for next year's Tokyo Paralympics.
