PUPILS at John Kyrle High School celebrated a successful year of rugby results recently.

The year eight pupils had a good year and performed well in their friendly matches as well as the two county tournaments they entered and are looking forward to next year’s county leagues.

Both year nine and ten teams got into the County Plate finals.

The year nines won silverware after winning in the final against Fairfield.

Pride of place goes to the year 11 team who remained unbeaten up to the County Final where they suffered their first loss of the season.

However, they produced some outstanding rugby on their way to and during the final.

Head of PE, Mike Donoghue, thanked all students, staff, parents and carers for their hard work, support and dedication throughout the term.

Mark Croad, Assistant Headteacher, added that physical exercise, in this case through competitive rugby is a key element in helping sustain overall wellbeing of young people.
