LEDBURY started the New Year with a bang and racked up 82 points against basement side Upton-on-Severn.

Within minutes Matt Hallett scored after a quick lineout before notching his second try moments later.

Chris Stokes and Cam Hunter also scored for Ledbury and things were looking bleak for the visitors who had no answer.

Two further tries by Hallett saw Ledbury 42-7 ahead at half time before he struck again twice more after the break to make five tries.

Veteran Stokes also crossed the whitewash along with Jamie Rayfield.

Greyhound moved up the Midlands 4 West (South) after clinching their fourth victory of the season 17-15 over Kings Norton.

Ali Paton, Jake Cheshire and Elliott Phillips all crossed the whitewash for the Hereford side on their way to a vital victory.

Second place Old Wheatleyans make the trip to Hereford Racecourse this weekend.

Bromyard are now up to sixth place despite their points deduction and recorded a ninth win from 11 games with a 20-17 scoreline over Bedworth.

Ross-on-Wye remain on course for back-to-back promotions as they sit top of Gloucester 1 with 11 wins from 12 games.

Their latest triumph came with a 27-14 victory over Cirencester.

Also sitting top of the Women's NC Midlands 2 league are Greyhound who clinched a 43-8 win over Cheltenham Civil Service Ladies.

The forwards dominated the visiting side, seeing Claire Higginson through for the first try of the game.

An error from Cheltenham trying to clear deep behind saw fullback Alys Probert scoop up the stray kick and run the ball in.

The back line stepped into action, moving the ball with ease to put winger Carly Whent over for her first of the game.

Greyhound found their rhythm and put Whent through for a further two tries before the break giving them a 24-0 lead.

Whent continued the second half where she finished the first scoring another try. Flanker Michelle Ruddock was the next to cross over with a superbly timed run and demonstrating great pace. Bonnie Smith adding the extras to 36-0.

Civil Service had a late spell of possession and crashed through a gap to bring the score up to 43-5 before adding a late penalty.
