SHOBDON darts star Jim Williams will start his campaign for the BDO World Darts Championships campaign next week.

The 34-year-old joiner is ranked number three in the world British Darts Organisation (BDO) rankings ahead of the tournament between January 5 and 13.

Last year Williams was narrowly beaten at the quarter-final stage by eventual winner Glen Durrant.

Williams is having a successful season with a semi-final finish in World Masters while also showcasing his skills in the Grand Slam of Darts and clinching five other tournament wins.

Williams is one of the 16 seeded players in the BDO World Darts Championships first round.

Roger Janssen, from Belgium and Wouter Vaes, from Holland, will play in a preliminary round tie on Sunday with the winner meeting Williams the following day (Monday, January 7), scheduled for 8.45pm.

The event will be broadcast live on Eurosport and Quest, and takes place at ‘the home of World Darts’ the Lakeside Country Club in Frimley Green.
