PEGASUS Juniors manager Mick Panniers said that his side are just a striker away from being a mid-table team.

His side sit second from bottom in the West Midlands Premier Division and suffered a 14 defeat of the season 2-0 against promotion chasing Wolverhampton Casuals on Saturday.

Peggy have scored the least goals in the league this season, netting just 17 times from 18 matches.

Defender and captain Kyle Panniers is their top scorer on seven league goals.

"We are getting there and are a lot better than we were last season," said Panniers.

"We are a lot stronger this season but just haven't got a goal scorer. We've not got a squad to compete at the top end of the league but apart from a striker we have got a decent enough squad for mid-table.

"We haven't been beaten heavily apart from against Lads Club and in the cup. We are competitive in games but we don't look like scoring."

Peggy's latest defeat against Wolverhampton Casuals came thanks to a goal in either half by Scott Sandland and Kieran Miller.

Panniers congratulated Hereford goalkeeper Brandon Powell for keeping them in the game.

He added: "We battled well but they are a better team than us obviously.

"However, we worked hard and restricted them to not many chances in the first half. Those games aren't ones we expected to pick up points in.

"Our young goalkeeper was superb on Saturday but we didn't create many chances ourselves.

"We are trying to address that as we can't keep defending all the time and we are hoping to get someone on trial."
