HEREFORD Head Coach Marc Richards said that the five triallists who played in a training match against Cinderford Town ‘probably did better’ that the current squad platers.

The Bulls start all five new faces with two of them believed to be goalkee Theo Richardson and Tommy O’Sullivan but Richards refused to name them officially.

Despite a triallist striker taking the lead early in the 61st minute only for Cinderford substitute James Harding to net twice as the Bulls defence faltered.

“I think it was a really worthwhile exercise and the idea of the training game was to look at a few of the boys I haven’t seen too much of in a competitive situation,” said Richards.

“Also a few new faces who we’ve had in training or have been recommended. It was important to give them enough time to impress and I thought actually the triallist showed up pretty well.

“They all did well, in terms of the positions we brought in the traillists it’s a splattering across the park really. I thought they actually did well, and probably did better some of them than our current players.

“A few of them have been training with us already and a few of them it’s the first time they’ve got involved today.

“So we’ll take stock of that and I’ll watch back the video footage and have a second view of it as your initial reaction might be one thing but looking back at it the more positional sense or tactical element will help as well.

“We are a few weeks in and still looking at everything and assessing what we need to do for the squad to make sure it’s competitive as it can be and start moving the right way up the table.

“I’m sure there will be movement in the next couple of weeks but nothing yet. It comes down to maybe where we need to strengthen but also what is available at the time and what opportunities are there to actually have players in and have a look at them.

“That’s the hard bit sometimes being able to physically see them play if they’re not playing competitively. Seeing them in training is great but putting them in a game situation is vital really to seeing what they can bring.

Richards refused to name the traillists, he added: “I’ll leave that down to you to decipher that yourselves.

“There were 205 here tonight so I’m sure they will be googling a few names to try and find out who they were.”
