HEREFORD men’s hockey firsts suffered their second defeat of the season as Yate kept them at arm’s length during a 3-1 victory.

Following their opening day 5-2 victory over Lansdown the last two weekends haven’t been as successful for the Hereford Racecourse based side with two defeats.

Against Yate the hosts found themselves 2-1 behind at half-time with the host's goal coming from teenager Lloyd Davies who scored at the back post from a ball across the box.

Hereford firsts head to basement side Swansea B this weekend.

“It’s a very similar squad with a few more boys coming through the development,” said club captain Kyle Drew.

“Next weekend will be an interesting game but we are going to struggle with away games as with the age of the team not everybody can travel but we will try our best to get a win.”

Also in the men’s De Cymru and Marches 1 league, after taking victory last weekend Ross-on-Wye suffered a 5-2 defeat at Cirencester.

Following a run of two draws Leominster clinched their first win of their Conference North season when they put seven goals past basement side Clifton Robinsons B.

Hereford women have had a disappointing start to their West Clubs Women’s Hockey League Premier Division 2a season with a run of three defeats.

Leominster women have had a brighter start to their Severn Division 1 campaign taking three wins from four games and beating Chipping Campden 3-2 at the weekend.
