VISITING team Newport Golf Club came away with the top honours when Burghill Valley Golf Club held their prestigious Seniors AM AM competition recently.
The event saw 55 teams of four players arrive at the Herefordshire course from the West Midlands and South Wales with the first team teeing off at 7.30am and the last team at 3pm.
Despite two home teams coming close to victory first place went to Newport with 93 points with Burghill Valley GC's Perkys Boys on 92 points in second with fellow home team Itsus third on 90 points.
The ladies on the 12th tee provided refreshments and raised a grand total of £417.90 for the Captain's Charity which this year was in aid of Parkinsons Hereford.
The Best Visiting Team prize went to Ross-on-Wye Golf Club on 89 points.
Nearest the Pin winners were: N Venables (Kington Golf club) third hole; A Davies (Raglan Parc Golf club) 12th hole and J Wilde (Worcestershire Golf Club) on the 18th hole.
The Longest Drive on the 15th prize was won by G Curtis (Enville Golf Club).
