LUCTONIANS head coach Ryan Watkins says that their league rivals won't want to visit Mortimer Park after they demolished league leaders Scunthorpe 37-7 last weekend.

Saturday's visitors were the only unbeaten Midlands Premier side prior to their visit to Herefordshire but left empty handed as Luctonians ran over five tries.

"I'm extremely happy with the boys in what was a huge performance," said Luctonians head coach Ryan Watkins.

"I didn't think it would be that comfortable as I thought if we executed our game plan we would win but not my the margin and the way we did.

"I was really impressed and proud of the boys after taking the two loses on the chin. Those loses were a sharp reminder that if we don't do what we are meant to do then we will come second.

"What we have done is simply built our game is built around aggression and fitness. "Beating top of the league and the way we did it really sends out a message to teams and they won't want to travel to Mortimer Park as they won't want that in your face and relentlessness the whole game.

"We should have scored two more tries in the first half but we carried out hitting them and trying different things and eventually it opened up.

"The two losses taught us that if we get comfortable before a rugby game and don't win those battles we won't win."

Luctonians took the lead after just 10 minutes through Isaac Fanueli before a Sam Boxhall conversion and penalty gave them a 10-0 lead at half-time.

Just seconds into the second half Drew Cheshire found a gap to run over under the posts before Scunthorpe were reduced to 14 men following a red card offence.

Isaac Lafueli powerfully drove through several tackles for a third try before the pace of Josh Watkins shone as he ran over the whitewash twice more to complete the victory.

This weekend Luctonians host Bridgnorth in the North Midlands Cup quarter-finals and Watkins says he faces some tough decisions with seconds players vying for a chance in the first team.
