JUNIOR cricketers at Bartestree and Lugwardine Cricket Club celebrated a successful 2018 season with an awards ceremony recently.

The large junior section saw sides compete in the Herefordshire Junior League in the under-nine, under-11, under-13 and under-15 age categories.

The under-nine cricketers finished third in the North Division and their team members received medals at the club awards.

In the under-11s the team were able to field two sides with their 'A' team winning three of their six matches and ‘B’ team winning two of their five games.

William Cripps was named Most Improved Player, Ralph Warner won the Player of the Year and Jay Rai named Batter of the Year.

Bartestree and Lugwardine Cricket Club also fielded two teams in the under-13 age category.

The ‘A’ side finished fourth in Zone 1 of the Herefordshire Junior League after winning two of their seven games while the ‘B’ side competed in Zone 3.

Oliver Featherstone won the award for under-13 Best Bowler.

Finally the under-15s competed in Zone 1 of the Herefordshire Junior League and finished fourth after winning two of their eight fixtures.

They also reached the quarter-final of the HCB under-15 KO Cup.

Will Eckley was given the award for Best Batter in the under-15 team.
