RYAN Green hopes that Hereford’s second qualifying round FA Cup victory can kick-start their season ahead of Saturday’s clash against Spennymoor Town.

Interim player/manager Green returned to Wednesday night’s team against Truro City as his side came from three goals down to win 4-3.

“It was an absolutely fantastic win so we can take that into Saturday’s game now,” said Green

“Recovery is important now as I will be a little bit stiff tomorrow so it is very important we look after ourselves.

“Everybody wants to do well for the club and we just need to get our confidence up which I think we have done now as everybody’s confidence is up and we have lads coming back from injury so we are raring to go on Saturday.

“It’s key for this club that we keep believing in ourselves and if we just lie down and die nobody would be happy at the club.”

Green said that his side capitalised on the momentum of the match as Mike McGrath pulled a goal back before the break and then Callum Sainty’s header was followed by Marlon Jackson’s leveller five minutes from time.

“It was an up and down performance as at the start we didn’t get off the bus and then after that as soon as we scored to make it 3-1 we kicked on from there,” added Green.

“But we were making chances all through the game and at the back in the second half we limited them to hardly any chances and our finishing was fantastic.

“After missing the penalty our heads got down a little bit and it was a great finish to make it 3-1 and when we made it 3-2 their heads went down a little bit so we capitalised on that.”

After a stand out performance it was fitting that Keiran Thomas headed home Hereford’s winner seven minutes from time.

“You don’t get much better than that, a great cross and a great header and that sums Kieran’s season up, he has been absolutely fantastic all through the season,” added Green.

“Centre midfield, right-back, right wing back. He is head and shoulders above everybody at the moment.”
