HEREFORD Head Coach Sean Lynn was left proud of his players and thought they were unlucky to lose as Bromsgrove scored a late converted try to seal victory.

Ruthless Bromsgrove, who joint sit top of the Midlands 1 West, only got inside the Hereford 22 metre line on three occasions in the final quarter on the match but crucially came away with two tries to seal victory.

“I asked the players to give the crowd a game to be proud of and that they did," said Lynn.

"As a coach I’m very proud of the boys today. If you’d told me before the game we would lose 14- 9, I’d have taken that result, but we were really unlucky to lose the game.

"We did though, come away with a losing bonus point and if we can’t win, that’s something we are looking to do. The club is in a good place and Bromsgrove will know they’ve been in a match today.

"We must now get ready for a trip to Droitwich next Saturday and prepare for another really tough match.”

Hereford took the lead after ten minutes with a penalty goal from James Stubbs.

For the remainder of the first half the Wyesiders exerted pressure in the Bromsgrove half winning a plethora of penalties and the visitors lost two forwards for ten minutes in the bin in separate incidents.

A number of these penalties were in kickable positions, but Hereford opted to keep the ball alive and despite huge efforts, were unable to cross the Bromsgrove line to take a 3-0 lead into half-time.

Early in the second half a high tackle enabled Lynn's side to increase their advantage with a second penalty from Stubbs.

The play was now end to end and as the game entered the final quarter Bromsgrove got into the home 22 for the first time.

Some forward pressure set up a position to move the ball wide for a try in the corner.

An excellent conversion from a difficult angle gave the visitors a 7-6 lead.

Hereford responded and a driving move forced a penalty, which Stubbs landed to take a 9-7 lead. The Bromsgrove pack drove over for a second try and the conversion closed the game out at 14-9.
