HEREFORD Head Coach Sean Lynn was pleased with his side's bonus point win over Stourbridge Lions but says there is still work to do following their 31-25 victory.

The Wyesiders were ahead from the 20th minute in their Midlands 1 West opener but never out of sight allowing Stourbridge to respond and take a single point lead into the last 15 minutes, but a 73rd minute Lewis Jordan try sealed the win for Hereford and the bonus point.

“It was a good result overall and the boys put in a good performance," said Lynn.

"We started off slowly, we were a little bit rusty and just couldn’t get the phases together. To come away with a bonus point win away from home was brilliant. Jack Aldous-Fountain went very well on debut and it was nice to see Matt Frost on there as well.

"There are things to work on which we would have known coming into the first game, but the boys are pleased with it and we’re looking forward now to a home fixture with Sutton Coldfield next week.”

After 14 minutes Lions took the lead with an unconverted try with a “catch and drive” from a line-out close to the Hereford line.

The Wyesiders responded on 20 minutes when from a line-out the ball was moved through hands to James Stubbs who crossed under the posts.

The second half started with a Hereford try for Richard Preece after good work from James Stubbs and Sean Day. The Lions responded with an unconverted try.

Soon after Stubbs intercepted a loose Lions pass to run in the third Hereford try, which he converted himself. In a ten-minute spell the hosts registered two tries, one converted, which gave them a one point lead with 15 minutes to go only for catch and drive” move to send Jordan over for the winner.
