HEREFORD Courier Clare Mallender tackled Garway Hill on the Welsh border to clinch the women's victory in the 11-kilometre Jack's Dash race last weekend.

The race started and finished at the Moon Inn, Garway, before running to the summit of Garway Hill before runners made their way back to Moon Inn.

Mallender had a fine race to take the victory clocking 57 minutes and six seconds.

The men's winner was Toby Dickens, from border club Monross-Trailblazers clocking a time of 43.14. Second was Rob Nicholls, Spirit of Monmouth runners while third was previously undisputed champion Andy Stevens, Monross-Trailblazers in 44.50.

The annual event is organised by Sam Weale and raised £380 for Midlands Air Ambulance.
