MARCUS England took victory in the Wye Valley 10 mile road race but it was veteran runner Barry Reynolds who was crowned Herefordshire Champion after finishing second.

Cheltenham and County Harriers runner England clocked a winning time of 56 minutes and 39 seconds and was joined on the overall podium by team-mate Elliot Taylor.

The race which also doubled up as the Herefordshire County 10 mile race was hosted by Wye Valley Runners starting and finishing at Hereford Rowing Club.

The route took on some tough climbs within the undulating course around the village of Breinton in humid and windy conditions.

Hereford Courier runner Reynolds finished second male in 57.42 to win the county title along with picking up the first veteran male prize.

Gemma Mallett (Croft Ambrey RC) led the women home in a finishing time of one hour, 11 minutes and 42 seconds beating Annabelle McCourt (Evesham RC) in second and Claire Thomas (Ludlow Runners) in third but first veteran woman.

Hereford Courier Paul Jones finished in one hour, six minutes and 37 seconds in 11th to receive second in his category while team-mate Jake Underhill finished 14th to picked up the male team prize.
