TENBURY CC captain Robbie Farrar says he has no fears about his side being relegated from Division Four of the Worcestershire County League, despite an eight-wicket defeat at Kidderminster at the weekend.

“I’m not worried because hopefully we’ll have a strong line-up this week, and should hopefully pick up some points,” said Farrar, whose side have a healthy 64-point gap on second-from bottom Himley with five fixtures to go.

“We should pick up enough points to keep up. With the games we’ve got ahead I do believe we’ll pick up points, from a captain’s point of view.”

Ten-man Tenbury, hampered by the loss of two key batsman and a bowler on Saturday morning for family reasons, were skittled out for 84 at the weekend with key man Kier Sellars top-scoring with 27 and Ryan Morris adding an unbeaten 15 as no-one else mustered double figures.

The hosts required just 56 balls to knock them off, with Sellars adding a measure of respect by claiming both Kidderminster wickets, for 27 runs.

The 2nds enjoyed better fortune in a rain-affected game at home to their Hanley Castle & Upton counterparts in the Division Four 2nd XI competition.

The hosts piled up 273 for six as Alfie Watts hit 82 and Aaron Morris – stepping down from the first team because of an inability to travel on Saturday – added 62.

With rain interrupting the visitors’ reply, Hanley Castle called it a day by declaring on 109 for seven after 24.2 overs, and with the required run rate rising.
