THROWER Ruth Wells led the way for Hereford and County Athletics Club by taking two victories in the final meeting of the Midland Track & Field League Division 6.

A fourth place finish on the day for Hereford secured the same position in the league behind Newcastle (Staffs), Banbury and Kettering, and beating Nuneaton, Forest of Dean, Tamworth and Shrewsbury.

Wells won the Discus with a throw of 24.77 metres and the Javelin with 23.91m. She was second in the Shot Put with 8.03m and first `b` in the Hammer with 20.51m.

Cara Bennett was third overall and first`b` in the Shot with 6.85m and second overall but first `b` in the Discus with 24.33m.

Hannah Barnes was fourth in the Hammer with 24.37m.

Bennett also took second 'b' in the Long Jump in 4.26 metres just behind Megan Turton who jumped 4.69m for fourth`a`.

Turton also ran the 100 metres in 13.4 seconds for third and 28.0 in the 200 metres for second.

In the men`s events Ollie Howl was fourth in both the 100 metres in 11.8 seconds and 200 metres in 23.9 seconds before taking third over the longer 400 metres in 54.3.

Zac McGrillen ran the `b` races with 12.3 seconds for third in the 100m, 24.6 for first in the 200m and 55.6 for second in the 400m.

Adam Jones came fifth`a` in both the 800m in 2 minutes and 17.4 seconds and the 1,500m in 4:45.4.

Graham Hazelgreaves was fourth in both the Shot in 6.85m and Hammer with 17.8m.

Kevin Barnes ran the 800m`b` in 3:38.5 for third, 1,500m in 7:26.6 for sixth`b'. He also ran the 3,000m in 15:32.0 and was 4th`b` in both the Shot in 5.53 metres and Hammer with 14.18m.
