FOLLOWING a turbulent summer of money worries Lads Club are looking to build towards a successful West Midlands Premier campaign.

The Widemarsh Common side have found some financial support for the short term and got their campaign off to a perfect start with a 1-0 home victory over Wem Town.

After dominating play for most of the game and seeing chances squandered substitute James Hancocks sealed the points late in the match cutting inside before firing into the bottom corner.

"We kept going, totally dominated the game and got the goal in the end but it could have been eight or nine," said Lads Club manager Danny Moon.

"They got 10 men behind the ball and made it difficult but with 10 minutes to go we eventually wore them down. We must have had a numerous amount of chances but whether it was eight goals or just one it's still three points.

"We have had a hard pre-season, we are still looking for people to come forward to financially back us but have managed to get a couple of people to help us out at the moment. That has allowed us to look at other avenues moving forwards.

"The affect of that has been that our pre-season hasn't really got going until late in July. However, we've been able to put together a really strong squad and hopefully we can look to do something in the league and an FA Vase run.

Moon hopes that his side can improve on their 12th place finish last season but is unsure of what finishing position his side will need to secure an FA Cup space.

"We would like to make a big push towards the FA Cup places this season but now with the reshuffling planned for next summer we don't know where we are going to be, added Moon.

"I've asked the FA what is happening and and whether our team will move or play next year.

"It would be nice to know how many teams will get an FA Cup place as it's normally eight teams, but it was four last season."
