HEREFORD FC are looking to bring in a striker and a goalkeeper days before the new season gets underway.

With last season's number two shot stopper Will Puddy deciding not to sign for Hereford days before pre-season began the Bulls have had four trialist goalkeepers pull on a Hereford shirt in the last month, but none have yet signed a permanent deal.

In the last week former Chelsea and QPR Academy goalkeeper Connor Hudnott started against Forest Green Rovers on Wednesday while former Nuneaton Town shot stopper Dean Lyness started three days later against Cardiff City.

"Hudnott had already agreed to come and play on Wednesday and Dean to play today so it has given us food for thought from both of them," said Bulls manager Pete Beadle following Saturday's game against Cardiff City.

"We will sit down and discuss that this week and see if we can do something with one or either of them."

Meanwhile striker Mike Symons is due to miss at least the opening two month of the season after suffering a small fracture in his tibia against Newport County.

Midfielder Keyon Reffell is also facing a late fitness test after missing the last few friendly games due to an injury.

"It has been a hectic couple of weeks with Jimmy (Oates) moving on and Mike's (Symons) injury but football does move quickly and we'd like to get a body or two in before the season starts," Beadle added.

"A forward is as much a priority as another goalkeeper at the moment as we don't want to be light in that attacking third. We know we've got goals in us and showed that today (against Cardiff City).

“We are staying in contact with lots of people about players including Cardiff City coming on Saturday, Bristol City, West Bromwich Albion so we are talking.

“We are just waiting for them to come back to us and let us know what might be available. We would like to have a real settled squad come the first game of the season but it’s not going to be.

“It’s almost going to be reminiscent of the first season a little bit with the disruption we’ve had through the summer. But the ones we have got here are already settled and are more than capable of matching teams two leagues above themselves.

"We're not unhappy with what we've got and have had a fantastic pre-season although it has been a little bit stop start with players coming and going on holiday or injured."

Hereford suffered a 3-1 defeat at the hands of League Two side Forest Green Rovers on Wednesday night.

Hudnott pulled off a one-handed save on the 24th minute but from the rebound Gavin Gunning poked home the opener.

Harry White levelled on the 51st minute with a goal to remember, beating his man on the wing the striker cut inside before side-stepping the last defender and slotting home.

However, Ruben Reid’s 71st minute header and scored a second six minute later to secure the win.
