MICK PANNIERS is confident his young Pegasus Juniors side will avoid another relegation fight and hopes to bring in some new faces ahead of the forthcoming campaign.

His sides pre-season preparations continued on Saturday with a 6-3 win at Ludlow, bouncing back from last week’s 3-0 defeat to Westfields in the Dennis Hartland Memorial Trophy, writes James Thomas.

Bisensio Kamilo made the step up from the club’s under-18s to net two goals in each half on Saturday, with Kieran Young and an own goal completing the scoring for Peggy.

Despite the threat he poses in front of goal, manager Panniers is cautious about using the 17-year-old too much in the upcoming West Midlands (Regional) League campaign.

“Kamilo was in the under-18s last year, but he only came to the area about 18 months ago,” Panniers said.

"He’s a new lad and I expect him to make the step up, but I don’t want to ruin him

“He’s only 17, but I want him to be around the first team."

One key re-signing for Pegasus is captain Kyle Panniers, and some new arrivals are expected in the coming weeks.

“We’ve got a few things in the pipeline. The new lads have gone on holiday until Saturday, the paperwork hasn’t been completed so it’s not quite finalised,” added Panniers.

"We’ve got a very young squad and we’ve been working more on our offensive game. I aim to get halfway this year, but we’re still using a young side.

“I’m confident we won’t be in a relegation battle again this year and I’m confident with how things are going.”

The side’s final pre-season friendly is on Saturday when they host Newent Town AFC at Old School Lane.
