TOBY WILDIG is confident that his Burghill, Tillington and Weobley side can lift themselves up the Worcestershire County League Division One table following a 174-run victory over Cookley.

After taking their third win of the season from 14 games Wildig’s side are now seven points from safety.

Clive Chadhani’s unbeaten century helped Burghill to set a big target of 326-6 which the visitors fell well short of and were bowled out for 152.

“There’s more than enough talent to lift ourselves off the foot of the table if we can regain some confidence in our batting and start posting some more defendable scores,” said captain Wildig.

Colwall took their sixth win of the season by four wickets over Pedmore thanks partly to an all-round performance by Fergus Cameron.

Opening bowler Cameron set the tone taking two early wickets as the hosts set a total of 146-9 before hitting 24 with the bat as his side easily reached their target.

Bromyard suffered another blow to their Division Two promotion hopes after Herefordshire rivals Bartestree & Lugwardine sent them to their third defeat in a row.

Extras of 39 were the top scorer for Bromyard as they struggled with the bat and set a target of 148.

In reply a steady innings for the visitors was helped by an unbeaten partnership of 68 by Ryan Trattell (38) and Andy Jones (31) which helped them to victory by six wickets.

Wormelow were cut adrift of safety after suffering a 26 runs defeat against fellow strugglers Himbleton thanks to a century by home batsman Alastair Pretty.

Eastnor continued their mixed season in Division Three after suffering a disappointing 87 runs defeat at the hands of bottom two side Hanley Castle & Upton CC.

Josh Emery top scored for the hosts on 39 as they fell well short of their 255 target.
