AN UNBEATEN century from James Platford capped a perfect day for Luctonians as they took top spot in the GB Liners Marches League and beat Leominster rivals Dales.

A surprise defeat for Goodrich at Abergavenny meant that Luctonians moved above them to take pole position in Division One.

After electing to bat Dales opener Michael Batson put on a half-century but with wickets falling around him his side fell to 123-7.

Captain Ian Jones helped to bolster their total with 78 as they were eventually out for 208 with

Jake Davies taking 4-46.

In response openers Duncan and James Platford put on a stand of 123 for the first wicket before Duncan lost his wicket James went on to help his side reach 210-1.

Goodrich saw their title hopes dealt a blow after suffering 18 runs defeat by Abergavenny-Crickhowell after conceding 77 extras.

A century by captain Nick Francis helped the visitors to set a competitive score but it was the extras which boosted it to 308-8 with Zed Jameson taking 3-39.

In reply half-centuries by James O'Brien and Andrew Robbins and other batters chipping in saw Goodrich reach 290 before losing their final wicket.

Kington remain within touching distance of the top two following 73 runs victory over Garnons thanks to a standout performance by Ben George.

George hit a half-century for Kington on their way to setting a target of 183 before taking four middle-order wickets with the ball as Garnons were all out for 110.

Brockhampton 3rd gave their Division One survival hopes a boost by taking a one wicket victory against Buith Wells in a tense ending which saw the visitors one run away from victory.

An unbeaten 82 from Rhys Price helped the hosts to set a target of 208-9 but Builth Wells looked on course to reach the target only for two late Elliot Jones catches from Adam Herbert’s bowling.

In Division Two Ben Childs hit an unbeaten double century for title chasing Canon Frome as they declared on 356-2 on their way to beating Colwall 3rd by 234 runs.
