Teenager Adam Hockey came to saviour of Hereford FC with a last gasp goal as they clinched a 1-1 draw with Evesham United.

The 17-year-old, who is due to be offered a Hereford deal, came on with 10 minutes remaining as Hereford piled forward and netted first goal in a Bulls shirt in the 91st minute.

“I think he came on and showed people what he is about with a great turn of pace and nice control for a 17-year-old,” said Hereford manager Pete Beadle.

“Then he took his goal really well with a nice and composed finish so hopefully that will be the first of many for us.

“He still sort of integrating with the squad and getting used to his surroundings. We will see how he goes in the next few weeks and whether he will be with us or maybe look to get him some decent game time.

“We see a lot of potential in him he’s 17 and he’s taken to it like a duck to water and shown to us tonight that he’s got an eye for goal as well.”

Hereford had been behind following a 35th minute Corey Simpson opener after latching onto a Ewen Dunbar shot which had rattled the post.

“It was a great workout and turned out to be a really competitive game and one we needed as well,” added Beadle.

“They were desperate to win the game and because of that they started to delay tactics and slow the game down. They see it as a huge confidence booster to win the game and our players see that and go it’s pre-season which gives it a little bit of an edge which is nice.

“It was an ideal workout for us and we just need that little bit of quality in the final third but outside of that I thought we played quite well.

“There are different types of games when you need different things and there were players tonight who needed slightly longer game-time.

“The young lads Harry (Franklin), Callum (Sainty) and Adam (Hockey) have worked extremely hard in the last three weeks so don’t need to ground down by over using them.

“But what they did give us was that impetus at the end and I’m pleased for him to get the goal. Outside of the couple of half chances they had at goal we created quite a few and on a different day could have ran out comfortable winners in the end.
