DESPITE being relatively new to athletics two budding stars from Herefordshire came away with top 10 placings at the English Schools National Track & Field Championships.

Dylan Menhennet (John Kyrle HS) and Mandras Kyeremeh (Bishop of Hereford Bluecoat School) took seventh and eighth places in their respective events in the most prestigious event in the schools’ athletics diary with 45 counties represented.

They were joined by Lily Fennessy (St Mary’s) and James Milburn (Hereford Sixth Form College) as part of the Hereford and Worcestershire Schools team after being selected in district competitions.

Menhennet threw a personal best in the Junior Boys Hammer competition of 41.91 metres which was enough for seventh place.

Also competing in the Junior Boys category Kyeremeh qualified for the 100 metres final finishing eighth in a time of 11.69 seconds.

Both boys helped the The Junior Boys team top the “category D” listed counties with 13 points.

Meanwhile Fennessy competed in the Junior Girls Javelin and Milburn in the Senior Boys Discus.
