BROCKHAMPTON are at risk of being cut adrift in the bottom two of the Birmingham & District Premier Cricket League Division One if they fail to get a victory at Himley this Saturday.

Results have been mixed for Nicholas Powell’s side in recent weeks but a 57-run defeat at the hands of relegation rivals Bromsgrove saw them slip deeper into trouble.

However, a win at Himley this weekend would see them jump above their hosts and out of the bottom two.

In what was seen by many as a ‘must win’ match at Bromsgrove last weekend Brockhampton will be ruining a poor batting display on a low scoring pitch.

On a difficult pitch Bromsgrove struggled to get going as wickets were shared between the visiting bowlers.

Number seven batsman Deon Patel added 41 before being caught by Powell before wicket keeper Tom Hill added an unbeaten 47 to give Brockhampton an attainable target of 187.

Jamie McIlroy was the pick of the Brockhampton bowlers taking 3-38.

In response the visitors got off to a perfect start with Worcestershire opener Daryl Mitchell and Adam Hewlett putting on 61 runs for the opening wicket as they looked in control.

However, when Hewlett lost his wicket to an lbw decision for 22 he was quickly followed by Mitchell on 37.

The next seven batsman fell for single figures at Brockhampton went from 67-2 to 95-8 as Mark Evenson took 5-20.

Despite an unbeaten 26 for McIlroy his side were bowled out for 130.
