A NAILBITING last wicket stand saw Bartestree & Lugwardine continue their climb up the Worcestershire County League Division Two following a single wicket victory over Bredon.

Number 10 Jack Trattell carried the Herefordshire side over the winning line with an unbeaten 28 as his side reached their target of 143 off 42.1 overs.

Earlier in the day Bredon posted a target of 143 all out off 36 overs with opener Tim Mcvicker top scoring on 45 while Tom Strangward took 3-25.

Meanwhile Bromyard saw their promotion charge stutter as they suffered a single run defeat at the hands of Old Vigornians.

Despite opener Osman Fiaz hitting 49 the visiting lost a host of wickets through their top order with five ducks before a century by Max Richardson and 56 by Azmat Riaz helped them to 295-7.

In response skipper Edd Oliver got Bromyard off to a good start adding 68 before Zahid Saeed carried his team with an unbeaten 99 joined by Josh Van Rensburg 60.

However, they fell agonisingly one run short of the target in a dramatic end to their 50 overs.

Basement side Wormelow continue to struggle and suffered a three-wicket defeat at the hands of Enville.

Opener Matt Deem top scored along with Tom Cutler, both on 37, as their side set a target of 174.

Despite Alastair Main taking 5-32 Enville reached the target finishing on 177-7 off 39.5 overs.

In Division Three, Eastnor took their fifth victory of the season after comfortably chasing down a target of 223 against Harborne.
