GOALKEEPER Marko Radovanovic was one of four trialists who pulled on a Bulls shirt for a first time as Hereford FC took a comfortable 5-0 victory in their opening pre-season friendly at Pegasus Juniors.

Australian goalkeeper Radovanovic, aged 28, made his first appearance as did Connor Johnston, Lee Lucas and Adam Hockey- who are all hoping to earn a place in the Hereford team.

A first half brace from Jamie Bird and goals by Harry White, Mike Symons and Lance Smith helped seal the comfortable victory.

Bulls manager Pete Beadle said he’d look at the trialists again on Tuesday when his side travel to Cirencester for another friendly, writes James Thomas.

"We didn't want to pick up any injuries, we wanted a good 45 minutes minimum out of everyone which we've had," said Beadle

"Some are ahead of where we want them to be, some are a little bit behind, but it's all part and parcel of the first game.

“We'll probably have another look at them [the trialists] on Tuesday and then make a

decision on them. If we're not going to keep them then it's unfair to keep them hanging around too long.”

Hereford looked lively from the start, forcing Pegasus’ trialist keeper into a number of saves, including tipping a shot off the post from midfielder Calvin Dinsley.

The first goal came early, with Bird’s powerful strike from an acute angle on the left beating the outstretched arm of the keeper.

White, who’s joined the Bulls from Chester, netted the second goal after 32 minutes. Able to make the most of a defensive error, he burst forward and buried the ball in the back of the net.

With Hereford still dominating, helped by Calvin Dinsley’s influence in midfield, former Cardiff City player Bird gave the Bulls a three-goal lead going into the break.

Not put off after firing a free kick wide moments before, he worked his way to the edge of the box, curling the ball past the goalkeeper.

Hereford made plenty of changes at half time, including introducing two of last season’s strikers Symons and Smith.

While still on top, there were fewer chances for Hereford after the restart.

However, in the 58th minute Symons rose above the rest to head home a corner.

Peggy could only create one clear-cut chance as captain Kyle Panniers’ shot from 25-yards beat the crossbar, with trialist goalkeeper Radovanovicoff his line.

Smith completed the scoring with the fifth goal of the afternoon when despite scuffing his first shot, he didn’t make the same mistake twice, drilling home from close range.
