DESPITE committing to Westfields for the season defender Tyler Weir looks set to sign for Worcester City before taking part in a training session at Allpay Park.

A seven days notice was handed to Westfields on Monday despite the club's management not having been contacted by the defender.

"We haven't seen Tyler for pre-season as yet and then had a seven days notice yesterday which was a bit strange after he committed and signed for us," said Westfields head of senior football Sean Edwards.

"That's up to him but it's a pity that he hasn't told us yet. Obviously other people have told us that he is going back (to Worcester) but it should be the player telling us.

"At the end of the day we are in a position now where if a player doesn't want to play for us then we don't want them. If that's his character to sign and commit and then not give us a chance then that is pretty poor. If that's his level of commitment then we don't want people like that.

"For whatever reason he has had a change of heart so good luck to him and Worcester."

Edwards is pleased with the strength of his squad who are in pre-season training and play their first game for the Dennis Hartland Memorial Trophy at Pegasus Juniors on Monday, July 16.

"I'm really pleased with what we have got to be honest and we have got some really good players," added Edwards.

"We want players who can fully commit and if they can't it doesn't matter how good they are or who they are."
