MUHAMMAD Saqib walloped an unbeaten 112 as Evesham thumped backmarkers Burghill, Tillington & Weobley by 259 runs on Saturday.

Saqib put on a whopping 160 for the fourth wicket alongside Johnson Lourdhusamy (88) before racking up a further 72 with captain Mohammed Fahim Mann (31).

That inspired a total of 351 for six and not content with that, Evesham set about their task of wiping out Worcestershire County League Division One’s cellar dwellers with equal gusto.

Adnan Sagheer (2-12) soon stifled the top end with James Crenan (5-21) maintaining the momentum as Burghill, Tillington & Weobley mustered a mere 92 all out.

The response was done and dusted inside less than 32 overs with only two visiting batsmen managing to hit double figures.

Fourth-placed Evesham hit the road to defend a three-match winning streak at Feckenham on Saturday (1pm).

In Division Two, Bredon sit second having eased to a 152-run triumph over Kempsey.

The hosts survived the early dismissal of Martyn Draper for two courtesy of impressive knocks from Tim Fenney (46), top scorer Martin Hill (71) and Cormach Papirnik (49) and finished on 275 for six.

Top two Tristan Robinson (22) and Joshua Jones (42) got Kempsey's response off to a sturdy start but Kevin Williams (3-46) and Dominic Fenney soon got to work on restricting the fightback to 123 all out.

Bredon travel to in-form Old Vigornians on Saturday (1pm).
