FANS favourite John Mills has hinted that he could be playing against Hereford FC at Edgar Street next season after leaving the club, something he 'didn't want to do'.

Mills is currently considering offers from teams at step two of the non-league pyramid in the Northern and Southern Division.

The forward, from Oxford, who has scored 140 goals in three seasons for the Bulls refused a contract renewal along with friend and travel companion Pablo Haysham, who also left the club last week.

"I didn't want to leave but a couple of circumstances meant that I had to do something I didn't want to do and I'm now looking forward to a new challenge," said Mills.

"Obviously I want to play as high as I can and I have had offers in and around the level Hereford have gone up to. I have loved by time at Edgar Street and have almost become a fan so will be checking their results every week.

"Hereford was everything I wanted it to be and I couldn't have wished for a better three years since I signed. I'm based in Oxford so the National League North was always going to be an obstacle but it wasn't the main thing in my thoughts.

"Especially with Pablo (Haysham) leaving I was going to be travelling by myself and it would have to take more and more time out of my day on a Saturday. Also in mid-week I would have had to book half a day off work on a Tuesday and Wednesday due to not getting back until late.

"I wanted a slight increase but it didn't come. I haven't asked for anything ridiculous just something I feel I deserve. I've been here three years so it was an amount I felt was right, but it wasn't in the budget."

Mills said that his winning goal against Camberly Town in the FA Vase Quarter Final is one that will stick in his mind.

He added: "You never know I might be playing against them (Hereford) next season.

"I might have one more game at Edgar Street yet."
