FOUR Herefordshire football clubs will know if their appeals to transfer leagues will be granted by the FA on Thursday evening.

Representatives from Westfields, Wellington, Lads Club and Pegasus Juniors travelled to Wembley on Tuesday and made their individual cases in front of an appeal panel to be switched from the Midlands and West Midlands Football Leagues across to the Hellenic Football League.

Westfields chief executive Andy Morris said that he was give no clue what the footballing body would decide.

"We put forward what I thought was a strong case in view of the desire to maintain our standard at step five," said Morris.

"It would help us to cut travel time, not so much the mileage but it's much easier to travel to the South West than the Midlands and East Midlands. We have got to maintain the interest of the players who have to get time off work for mid-week matches. To get to Rocester and Shepshed Dynamo it took two-and-a-half hours because of problems at Worcester, the M5 or M6.

"Yesterday I got to Wembley in under three hours when sometimes it can take us three hours to get to the other side of the M1 like travelling to Ilkeston.

"Some questions I put to them were positive but they didn't give any warmth at all so we are left waiting really."

Also in attendance at Wembley was Kevin Bishop representing Pegasus Juniors, Phil Smith representing Wellington and a Lads Club representative.

Each of the representatives had a separate hearing to make their cases to the FA Appeals Panel.
