HEREFORD FC have said farewell to one of the key players in their short history after Pablo Haysham decided to link up with Salisbury.

The midfielder made a scoring debut in the club's first ever league match, a 4-1 win over Dunkirk and has been an important member of the squad during the three successive title-winning seasons, scoring 52 goals in 142 appearances.

"It's been such an amazing journey and truly special to be part of," said the Oxford-based Haysham, who admitted that his decision had partly been formed by the Bulls' promotion to the National League North.

"I would have to drive an hour and a half to Hereford to meet up with the team and then travel, perhaps, another three to four hours.

"I have other commitments in my life."

Haysham admitted, however, that it was a very difficult decision to move on to join the newly-promoted Southern League Premier Division Wiltshire club.

"The last two weeks have been very difficult and emotional," he said.

"I have had the best three years that I could ever have hoped for. It's not just been the success on the field but the people - my team-mates, the fans and all the people who run the club off the pitch.

"It has been such an honour to be part of something which has been felt so passionately by so many people."

Of all of his goals in a white shirt, he points to one against Tiverton Town at Edgar Street as one that stands out.

"It was an important game when we won 2-1 in the second season and that goal turned out to be the winner," he recalled.

"But there were so many games when Edgar Street was packed to the rafters with the fans urging everyone on - you just couldn't pay for those experiences."

Not surprisingly, he pinpoints the FA Vase final at Wembley as another highlight.

"It was just an amazing experience to play in front of 20,000 Hereford fans in a stadium which is famous the world over," he said. "It was just a shame that we couldn't win on the day."
