HEREFORD manager Pete Beadle says centre-half Jack Deaman needs a break.

The Bulls vice-captain – who is under contract at Hereford until the end of the season – hasn't featured in recent games, with Ryan Green, Dara O'Shea and Jordan Liburd all ahead of him in the pecking order.

However, Beadle is confident Deaman can come back stronger and show supporters what he can do.

"Jack still needs to do certain different things in terms of his performance because he's not quite at the level we expected him to be at, so he's taking a break from the group," said Beadle.

"There is a fantastic player, we just haven't seen it enough.

"There are lots of factors, which are personal to Jack, but I think he just needs a break and find his mojo back and hopefully we will all benefit from it."

Deaman is one of three players under contract at Edgar Street, with captain Jimmy Oates and Keyon Reffell being the others.

Reffell's deal lasts until the end of next season after Beadle felt his performances warranted a longer contract.

"Within my budget, I have a certain percentage that I can use for contracted players and I'm limited to how many I can have," explained Beadle.

"After Christmas last season, I talked more frequently with the board because we were in a strong position in the league, but this year, we've had the distractions of the cups and I don't want to count my chickens just yet that we will get promoted."
