HEREFORD are set to appeal Dara O'Shea's sending off after the Irish defender was controversially dismissed today.

The 18-year-old saw red in the 14th minute after he brought down Wealdstone's Matt Whichelow in the FA Trophy Second Round match.

It was O'Shea's second sending off in a week and his third this season, meaning he is set to miss Hereford's next five games.

The Bulls went on to lose 1-0 thanks to Ricky Wellard's 26th minute header.

"It is bordering on farcical because the lad has thrown himself to the ground and probably couldn't believe his luck when it came off," Hereford manager Pete Beadle told BBC Hereford & Worcester's Keith Hall.

"The kid has been fantastic since he has been here and it's a shame for him.

"I feel for him and the lads tried to get something out of the game for him.

"We had a spell when we felt a little sorry for ourselves because it has happend to Dara again but for 60 minutes of the game we were the better team.

"I am so proud of the players though because they've out in a fantastic performance and we should have got something from the game."
