HEREFORD Lads Club saw their West Midlands (Regional) League Premier Division match at Wolverhampton Casuals abandoned at half time after it was alleged there was an altercation involving both sets of players.

Wolverhampton were leading 1-0 when the referee brought the game to a halt.

The Hereford Times have been unable to obtain a comment from Lads Club this week, although their Twitter page indicated they were unhappy with the decision.

Wolverhampton Casuals chairman Gareth Deacon was also baffled as to why it was called off, adding that no punches were thrown.

"It wasn't even handbags, it was more mouth," said Deacon.

"Both sides wanted to carry on, but the referee for some reason decided to abandon it."

West Midlands (Regional) League chairman Wendy Juggins said she could not comment until she had received the referee's report.

Wellington were also due to play in the Premier Division last Saturday, but saw their game against Dudley Town called off due to a waterlogged pitch.

Elsewhere, Pegasus Juniors lost 3-0 to Malvern Town.

This weekend, Pegasus go to Shifnal Town, while Wellington host Ellesmere Rangers.

Lads Club's cheduled match against Wolverhampton Sporting Community has been postponed due to Wolverhampton's involvement in the FA Vase.
