A WALKING football team reached the semi-finals of an annual tournament held in Uxbridge, West London.

The Scrumpy Boys won four out of their five games after beating Staines, Orient, Barnet and Wealdstone and only narrowly lost 1-0 to Watford in the last four.

During the whole tournament, the team only conceded two goals in five games.

The over-50s team ply their trade in the Gloucester League and have started with two wins and a narrow 2-1 defeat to last year's winners, Abbeymead.

At the end of this month, the Scrumpy Boys will compete against Birmingham, Norwich and Vulcans and, if they are successful, will be through to the last 32 of teams in England and Wales.
