THE managers of Hereford FC and Westfields have given their reactions after the draw was made for the FA Cup Second Qualifying Round.

Hereford will travel to Bedfordshire to take on Evo-Stik Southern League East side Kempston Rovers, while Westfields will host Leamington, of the National League North, should they beat Soham Town Rangers in their replay on Wednesday.

"It will be another tough game but it could have been a lot worse," said Hereford manager Pete Beadle.

"Ideally you like to be home, but if that is not the case then you would like to play a team from a league below.

"They have made a decent start and have taken points from some of the top teams, but you've got to be happy with the draw.

"However, it is still only 11 v 11.

"Look at what Westfields did last year, beating three teams from leagues above and taking a Conference North team to a replay.

"They will be right up for it, so we will have to prepare properly."

Leamington won the Midland Alliance 10 years ago and Edwards remembers some good games against them.

"I remember them coming to our place when we were scrapping near the bottom and we ended up winning 3-2 after being 2-0 down," he said.

"But I'm not thinking about that game yet as we've got to get over the line against Soham."

Westfields drew 0-0 on Saturday, but Edwards felt his side should have won.

"They dominated the first 15 minutes but for the rest of the half, we had chances to score," said Edwards.

"If you had asked me before the game would I have taken a replay, then I would, but on the day itself, we could have won it.

"They are fairly confident they will have a strong side out on Wednesday and they are in the league above for a reason.

"They have some really good players and they have a player who can take some really long throws, although we dealt with them on Saturday.

"I think it will be a similar type of game on Wednesday."

If Westfields win, it will be the second year in a row that they have reached the second qualifying round.

"For a club like Westfields, that would be massive, especially because of the amount of players we've had out," added Edwards.

The second qualifying round ties will be played on Saturday, September 16.
