FIGHTERS from Hereford Boxing Academy are to compete at a charity dinner show this weekend.

Callum Blackwell, Scott Greenhill and Cameron Heggie will all feature, with money raised from the event at the Three Counties Hotel going towards the Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.

Blackwell is a 53kg junior schoolboy, who recently outscored Cameron Johnson at the Cadbury Club in Birmingham.

In the first round, Blackwell defended well against a flurry of combinations from Johnson and used good counter-boxing techniques.

Blackwell then opened up Johnson in the next round, which put Johnson on the back foot.

Good combinations saw Blackwell take the round and he punished his opponent even more in the final round to win by a unanimous decision.

Greenhill, meanwhile, fought against Dan Tibbets at Cradley Heath.

The orthodox Greenhill fights in the 70kg senior boxer category and started landing some heavy shots on his opponent in the opening round.

Further blows were landed in the next round, with Tibbets' gumshield being knocked out on three occasions.

The final round saw Greenhill land some damaging punches and body shots and the won the match.

"Greenhill’s fitness, determination and boxing skill and ability to adapt to fighting a southpaw was superb throughout the bout," said Hereford Boxing Academy coach Ian Stevens.

Heggie is a 62kg senior boxer and last fought at the National Motorcycle Museum in Birmingham against Solihull's Dave Jones.

The first round saw the boxers exchange multiple combinations, but Heggie upped the tempo in the next round, landing strong head and body shots.

The third round again saw both boxers land good punches and footwork, but it was Jones who won on a split decision.

"This bout was without doubt the bout of the night and the referee lifted both boxers' arms up indicating to the crowd his personal decision," added Stevens.

People can still buy tickets on the door for this Saturday's show, priced at £10.

Hereford Boxing Academy, meanwhile, is open from 6.15pm to 7.15pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays for juniors and 7.15pm to 8pm on the same days for seniors.
