THREE boxers from Hereford Boxing Academy competed on Splott Amateur Boxing Club’s dinner show.

The first bout of the evening was a schoolboy contest between Hereford’s Callum Blackwell and Frankie Feehan.

Blackwell started strong, forcing Feehan on the back foot and he won by a unanimous decision after impressing in the next two rounds.

The first senior bout of the night saw debutant Joe Donovan up against Splott’s Foyez Hamed.

Both boxers came out looking to control the centre of the ring, with Donovan’s neat footwork and strong jab enabling him to control the fight midway through the first half.

With 15 seconds remaining, Donovan forced a standing count on Hamed with a big right hand.

The second round saw both boxers land some telling punches, with Donovan coming out on top.

And with both boxers tiring in the final round, Donovan dug deep, forcing two more standing counts on his opponent and was awarded the bout on a unanimous decision.

Tom Beech was then in action against David White, of Grange Catholic ABC.

In a very entertaining fight, which saw White win the first round and Beech the second, both boxers fought well, but White just shaded the third round to win the contest.

The best bout of the night was awarded to Donovan.
