TWENTY-NINE girls and three staff members from Bishop of Hereford's Bluecoat School returned with successes from a netball tour in Malta.
The pupils had one day of intensive coaching and then competed in two tournaments at two levels - under-14 and under-16 - one against English opposition and the other against English and Maltese opponents.
The under-14 squad, captained by Charlotte Day, beat four teams to reach the finals of the English tournament and then played well to finish runners-up to Helsby from Cheshire.
The Under-16 A team, captained by Harriet Majors, lost to Uckfield in the semi-finals of the first tournament and then reached the final of the international tournament with a revenge win over Uckfield on the way.
Bishop's made a nervous start against Maltese side The Kiesers in the final but then settled down to gain a 6-5 victory.
