Presteigne 4 Aberystwyth Reserves 0 TWO wins in four days mean that Presteigne stand on the brink of their first ever Spar Mid Wales League title.

After a goalless first period, Presteigne pressed strongly after the break and took the lead when Luke Boundford's free-kick was headed in by Paul Allam.

Adriano Girolami's men extended their lead shortly afterwards when Allam fired home from the penalty spot after a handling offence.

Shaun Prince had a shot cleared off the line before delivering the cross which was deflected home by Darren Jones for the third goal.

Darren Jones and Mike Symonds went close to extending the lead with good efforts before the best goal of the game arrived two minutes from time.

Some good play by Price saw the youngster deliver a cross which Chris Jones volleyed into the net from the edge of the area.

The previous Wednesday, Presteigne were given a tough battle by visiting Carno before emerging with a 1-0 win.

Allam netted the decisive goal from a Darren Jones cross inside the first 10 minutes.

To round off an excellent few days, Presteigne also earned an appearance in the final of the Otway Cup on Sunday against Pegasus Juniors when a fine goal from Ryan Cadwallader three minutes from time settled their semi-final against local rivals Kington Town.
