SUTTON United recorded two away wins in four days to enhance their title hopes in the Hereford Times Herefordshire League Premier Division.

They beat Colwall Rangers 4-0 to follow up a 3-1 win at Leominster Town in midweek.

Sutton still trail the leading trio of Westfields, Woofferton and Welling-ton but are well in contention with six of their nine games at home and all of their rivals scheduled to visit them during the run-in.

Sutton faced a stiff wind in the first half against Colwall but held their own during a goalless period against a lively home side.

After the break, the weather posed problems as hail-storms swept around the ground.

Danny Hill broke the deadlock with a cheeky piece of play. After cutting in from the right wing, he turned as if to play the ball across goal, stepped over the ball and back-heeled it into the net. Stuart New added two more to put daylight between the sides and then Keith Holmans headed in the fourth.

Hill scored an early goal to put Sutton ahead at Leominster, which was cancelled out by Steve Williams before the break. Leominster performed quite well but Sutton were the fitter side and goals from New and Steve Miles earned them the points as Leominster ran out of steam in the second half.

Lucas Jodba scored all the goals as Westfields put a dent in Ewyas Harold's title hopes with a 3-0 home win. Westfields stayed top of the table but Harold slip ped back to sixth place.

Jodba opened the scoring in the 25th minute when he beat a poorly-constructed wall from a free-kick close to the bye-line, keeper Bobby Smith failing to keep it out in spite of getting a hand to the ball. He doubled the tally from another free-kick in the second half, this time taking it quickly while the Harold defence were lining up their wall.

He completed his hat-trick with a spectacular acrobatic volley from a Nick Butler cross to seal an unexpectedly comfortable win.

Woofferton retain second place with a merited 2-0 win at Old School Lane against a Pegasus side who have been in good form Woofferton are a point behind leaders Westfields but, with two games in hand over the top side, must see their biggest threat coming from Wellington and Sutton, the two sides immediately below them.

With the wind in their favour, Woofferton made the ideal start, scoring after just two minutes. Danny Gower sent the keeper the wrong way from the penalty spot after a home defender handled Alan Hogg's header.

The visitors pressed for a second goal, missing a number of chances before Gower scored both his, and his side's, second goal. Chris Breakwell used his strength to win a long clearance from Dave Cooper in goal and fed Gower, who made light work of scoring his 23rd goal of the campaign from close range.

It might have been three at the break, Jamie Marsh's shot striking the woodwork. Woofferton still forced the pace after the interval but the home keeper prevented them from adding to their tally.

Wellington Rangers hit top form in midweek to take over the leadership for a few days, beating visitors Kington Town 5-0. But without a game last Saturday, they slipped back to third with games in hand over the top two.

Wellington dominated the first half, but a combination of stout defending by the home side and missed chances left the game in the balance at the break. They finally beat the impressive Chris Lloyd, in the Kington goal, on the hour-mark and went on to complete a big win.

Andy Price headed them in front from a Dave Price corner, Kenny Styles scored the next three and Nick Panniers rounded off the evening with a penalty.

Substitute Danny Hill scored a brace as Lads Club came back from behind to beat Fownhope 4-1 at Widemarsh Common.

Playing with the wind in their favour on a lively surface, Lads Club settled well but went behind when Nathan Collins burst through their defence and coolly lobbed keeper Kai Bond. The home side hit back before the break, Josh Pugh scoring direct from a corner kick.

Fownhope had the advantage of the wind in the second half but it was Lads Club who scored the goals. Ben Arnold put them in front five minutes after the restart, following good build-up play between John Buchanan and Josh Dallow.

Hill rounded off a good home team performance with two powerful headers, the first from a Buchanan cross and the second from a Luke Darlington free-kick.

James Williams scored a hat-trick as Kington Town made amends for their midweek defeat at Wellington by beating Hinton 4-1 at home.

Kington were 2-0 ahead at the break but the home side pulled a goal back around the hour-mark. Stand-in keeper Martin Powell was beaten from the penalty spot after Sam Mayglothling's rash challenge was penalised.

Kington went down the other end and scored twice to make the points safe. Richie Bore was their other goalscorer.

Leominster Town turned in a below par performance away to Ledbury Town Reserves, and went down 1-0 to the home side. They did create chances and had a penalty appeal turned down but failed to cancel out a single strike from the home side.
