Kidlington 1 Pegasus Juniors 2 PEGASUS completed their first Sport Italia Hellenic League Premier Division double of the season with an excellent win at Kidlington.

The unexpected victory, which dented the home side's expectations of a top-six finish while improving Juniors' hopes of avoiding the drop, added to the city side's 1-0 win at Old School Lane in November when Rob Laurie was on target.

Although they were playing against the wind in the first period, Pegasus got away to a great start when, after playing some good football, they took the lead in the 10th minute.

Simon Gwynne's through-ball released Bobby Aldrich and the winger raced through to place the ball beyond the advancing home goalkeeper Floyd Kroll.

Pegasus increased their advantage eight minutes later when a measured through-ball from Ben Price allowed Gwynne to speed in for an almost carbon copy goal.

Paul Brown and Chris Jones did well in the Pegasus defence to keep the home attack under wraps although goalkeeper Brian Kirkham did produce one fine save to tip away a Jimmy Dearill shot for a corner.

After the break, Kidlington broke away to reduce arrears through James Philpott in the 67th minute but it was the visitors who finished the stronger.

The Kidlington success rounded off a good week for Pegasus who the previous Tuesday gained a 3-1 home win against AFC Wallingford.

Two first-half goals by Gwynne and Daniel Sobocinski, who hit the target in the 28th and 38th minutes respectively, laid the foundations for the success.

Gwynne then scored again two minutes into the second period before Andy Styles grabbed a late consolation for the visitors.

Ross United have finally won their first Sport Italia Division 1 South match of the season.

The south Herefordshire club beat Clanfield 2-1 with a goal from Middlewood in each half.
