Shrewsbury Ladies 1 Pegasus Ladies 2 WITH just four games remaining, Pegasus established a two-point lead at the top of the West Midlands Regional Women's League Premier Division with a crucial win over their nearest rivals.

With the advantage of the slope and the wind behind them, Pegasus took control by scoring twice in the first 20 minutes from their only real chances in the game.

Lauren James received a pass from Etty Greenhouse on the left and placed the ball low into the bottom corner of the net.

Then Greenhouse forced her way past two defenders before lifting the ball over the home goalkeeper's head and into the net.

Shrewsbury, however, forced their way back into the game three minutes before the break with a ferociously-struck 25-yard free-kick.

Pegasus came under pressure from the home side early in the second period but the defensive line of Lucy Belcher, Julie Nicholas, James and player-of-the-match Chelsey Snead were equal to the challenge.
