Tywyn/Bryncrug 0 Presteigne 2 PRESTEIGNE moved four points clear at the top of the Spar Mid Wales League with a workmanlike win at Tywyn.

But the border club's victory owed much to the performance of debut-making Nicky Cadwallader. The young goalkeeper has joined the club from neighbours Knighton to take over from Scott Hodgetts who has moved to Reading with his job.

Cadwallader produced two superb first-half saves, one a breathtaking effort from a header, to keep the game goalless at the interval.

Presteigne had struggled to create openings playing against a strong wind in the first half, but after the interval the visitors began to produce some good football and took the lead on 65 minutes when Darren Jones paved the way for Ben Bevan to shoot home.

Bevan played a leading role in the second goal 15 minutes from time, delivering the corner which Ryan Cadwallader nodded on for Luke Boundford to head in at the far post.

Paul Allam and Sean Prince both had shots saved in the closing stages as Presteigne went close to adding a further goal.

Presteigne Reserves gained three Watson Associates Mid Wales League South points from a 4-1 home win over neighbours Radnor Valley in a local derby clash.
